Introducing MiniFlatty Board/boat Watercraft! for sale in North Fort Myers, FL
Throwing this out there to test a potential market.
Being a former outboard high performance boat designer, tooler and boat builder in my first life and now retired from a different career I d like to start building and shipping an entirely new and different simple, ultra low cost way to get out on the water.
As close to zero maintenance, simplest, least expensive, highest mile-per-gal way to go boating (or motor-boarding) imaginable.
MiniFlatty is 9 2 x 4 2 wide, basically a shorter, wider and much thicker stand-up-paddle board with attachable gas or electric outboard propulsion like epropulsion, Newport Vessel, Mercury-electric and other up and coming e-motors.
Like a giant surfboard with more of a high-lift planing boat hull.
All epoxy composite construction, full level-foam floatation even though there s no cockpit to swamp (only needed if the hull gets punctured in an accident), cored weighing in at only 100 lbs and stores like a kayak or thicker, heavier stand-up-paddle board.
The concept was designed to be and now reality of MiniFlatty is to be the most practical and highest performing largest boat-able water craft that can fit in a freight-sized box and can ship air-freight to any door in the world.
It s a flats micro-Skiff, a powered giant skimboard, a powered stand up paddle board or a super fast wide stable kayak that s car-top-able or throw it in your truck bed.
Six hand-twist bolt-on portable engine/motor bracket (no tools required) is optional at around $225.
Flat aluminum foil for massive planing lift approximately $100.
This craft can easily just be paddled if desired as a super stable platform for two.
Separate options because MiniFlatty need not be powered.
It is for efficient box-shipping reasons.
You would receive it as a board-boat/hull only and if intentionally powered, the optional bracket and foil is also in the box or a second paired separate box.
Now fully tested well this can now be a business as a box-freight sized UPS or FedEx-ed direct to a door anywhere in the world.
No distributors or dealers needed to import via shipping container.
Super fun, super stable, safe, turns like drifting a car and very dry riding when motorized even in rougher water.
My 5hp four stroke got an incredible 18 mph at 40
mpg on GPS (just me at 205 lbs but it can plane-off max of 400lbs total engine/motor, persons and gear) when a simple gear case flat aluminum foil attachedwith only a 5hp!
Deck outfitting is as owner desires, to buy cooler/seats or ? seats on your own because there are a vast variety of small boat, kayak and canoe accessory items from countless aftermarket suppliers including Walmart, Amazon, Ebay, TinyBoatNation and others so therefore it only makes sense for me to do the MiniFlatty manufacturing heavy lifting for you and stick to my skill-set of build it/box it.
Any seat that supports itself works great on MiniFlatty s flat deck.
Coolers, tons of boat seats, bean bag chairs, beach chairs and I chose to buy super inexpensive ultra-light plastic stackable Adirondack chairs from Ace Hardware for $30 each, cut the legs down 7.
5 inches and the back-rest down 11 inches with a simple jig saw.
Also remove them from the deck and onto the beach upon arrival of the destination.
Clamping deck-top seats and gear can be anywhere on the rub-rail area and/or down a center track on the deck similar to kayak track mounts.
Everything will be easily removable for lifting and/or for storage.
If this concept is popular I will soon tool up larger versions and create the Flatty Family.
I ve already been enjoying my 16 Flatty one-off custom for 5 years but MiniFlatty is now the only freight ship-able size.
So what % of you seeing this would be seriously interested in buying a water craft like this? It will be fairly priced (trying to hold it to 3k) for a hand-built epoxy composite hull and structure but not low priced like roto-molded plastic boats because the only way to get it light enough and very durable is this high-performance epoxy fabrication technique.
I could also go all carbon fiber but then the price doubles again for only a 10 lb weight savings so carbon is not worth it in this case.
It will be an internet-based buying experience on the soon to be launched web site.
I will guarantee it against structural hull failure for 5 years.
All business legals and Coast Guard regulations applied to MiniFlatty are in progress so refundable deposit pre-orders as soon as I finalize price are actually doable imminently for anyone who wants earliest delivery.
